“Alexa, show my calendar.”
“Alexa, play rock music for working.”
The powerful words above show just how smart your office can be. What better way to increase productivity and efficiency in workplace trends than to use a smart, hands-free tool like Amazon’s Alexa?

Here are five ways to use Alexa for business in the smart office:
REMINDERS/TO-DO LISTS
Alexa comes with a built-in task list manager. You can also connect a third-party task list manager like Todoist to your device. With a few words, you can add items to your to-do list. For example, you can say, “Alexa, add ‘go grocery shopping’ to my to-do list”. You can also use Alexa for reminding you what’s on your to-do list.
Speaking of reminders, Alexa is very useful for setting reminders to prevent you from forgetting important tasks. You can either go with a general command like, “Alexa, create a new reminder” or be more specific by saying, “Alexa, remind me to go to the post office Friday at 2:00 pm.”
AUDIO NOTE KEEPER
Another useful feature offered by Alexa is the ability to store notes. It’s called “Remember This”. Not quite like a reminder, this feature helps you recall important information. For example, by saying, “Alexa, remember that I kept extra printer paper in the cabinet”, or “Alexa, make a note that my new client’s name is Dr. Jones”, Alexa will recall this information upon your request.
SET A POMODORO TIMER
With Alexa, you can set a Pomodoro, or periodic timer to remind you to take breaks in between working. Just say, “Alexa, set a work timer for 120 minutes.” Then, you can tell Alexa to set a break timer. This is great for people who have a hard time staying focused for certain periods of time.
CALENDAR INTEGRATION
Alexa gives you the capability to integrate your calendar with the system. You can sync your Google calendar or iOS calendar to Alexa, giving you hands-free access to your work schedule with just a few words.
REORDER OFFICE SUPPLIES
Perhaps the best feature of Alexa is the ability to reorder office supplies and other items without having to lift a finger. While you’re working, you can simply say, “Alexa, I need to order trash bags”, and they’ll be delivered to your door within days. There’s no need to make a trip to the store or even to click a button in your virtual shopping cart. All you need is your voice.
