This year was no different than past years at CES (Consumer Electronics Show). Companies showcase their latest technology to impress thousands of electronic and technology savvy viewers. In the first year of the show, 1970, the hot product of a video cassette recorder was introduced. For the 2019 show, which was held in January in Las Vegas, the product that rendered the most attention was LG’s Rollable OLED TV R.
What is LG’s Rollable OLED TV R?
- The sleekness of this TV is beyond what is offered by any other TV manufacturer. When it is in its closed mode, it represents itself as a low, wide, but narrow width coffee table in a modern design. It is designed to fit into very upscale living with massive “million-dollar” view windows.
- Roll up and down is what the set does. It has three levels. Fully extended to view the full 65″ width of the TV. Line view, which is a few inches up and can display time, music controls and your own picture display. The third level is fully retracted. Even at that level the speakers and Bluetooth capabilities will play music at its finest. The rolling functions operated seamlessly. This video by CNET shows these functions.
- The immersive experience is enhanced by OLED defined by Your Dictionary.com as “A light-emitting diode that uses an organic compound to emit light.” When in use, LG’s Rollable OLED TV R produces flawless, defined picture. In the music sound mode, you will be immersed in the music as if the orchestra was in the room.
- LG’s Rollable OLED TV “features the company’s latest processor, Alexa and Google Assistant integration for controlling the television with your voice, as well as AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support for streaming off of iPhones, iPads, and Macs and controlling the TV through Siri.”
How Soon Will We See This Model?
The product will not come out for sale until the end of 2019. Most will not be seeing the LG Rollable OLED TV R under their Christmas tree in 2019. The price tag of the set is predicted to be well within the 5- figure range. So, only the high-end affluent customer will be the early adopters. It would be ideal for corporations that want to use the latest in technology to be the first to implement its use.
